Dick Jewell: Found Photos, 1978

Having scavenged dozens of discarded — and often torn or mutilated — rejects from automated photobooths in Brighton and London during the 1970s, Jewell’s collection of  images is a scarce artist’s book assembled in 1977. The collaged images form a collective documentation of the importance of the photobooth in helping to assert or disavow one’s perceived identity, even when the resulting photograph fails.
